I don't know if they're really "traditional" scones, but they are yummy. I'll send you the recipe if you want to give them a try!Kathy A. Are your scones easy to make? I am a wee bit challenged in the kitchen but for fresh scones I might put on an apron and give them a try.Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335523622158333456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9148557807474310110.post-14363091989980804712015-01-10T10:40:17.699-05:002015-01-10T10:40:17.699-05:00Don't feel too bad, I only bake the scones eve...Don't feel too bad, I only bake the scones every now and then and freeze or refrigerate them. I wouldn't be up to making them every morning, either. :)Kathy A. It comes from the diary of Scottish poet William Soutar (1898-1943):<br /><br />'...a diary is an assassin's cloak which we wear when we stab a comrade in the back with our pen."<br /><br />Thanks for your comments.Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335523622158333456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9148557807474310110.post-68822659609833211882015-01-09T14:42:17.673-05:002015-01-09T14:42:17.673-05:00Oh, a homemade scone! I will give them a look. How funny that we are reading the Tidying book (although I am not that surprised given our reading history). I find the translation to be a bit choppy. And it irritates me that the editors let slip by the spelling 'stationAry' for letters when it should be stationEry. Her take on books was interesting. And I kind of like how she 'talks' to her things. A different look at an ongoing problem for sure.Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335523622158333456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9148557807474310110.post-28766536774350625782015-01-09T14:34:48.543-05:002015-01-09T14:34:48.543-05:00Joan, the sentimentals are definitely the hardest....Joan, the sentimentals are definitely the hardest. I purged letters years ago (some I wish I hadn't) and kept only a handful. The journals will just have to be burned after my demise. Gifts are a little easier to discard or 'regift'. Clothes are a piece of cake because I have so few anyway. I never was a style maven. Books and papers we can't even begin to think about!Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335523622158333456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9148557807474310110.post-35949856759915555162015-01-09T08:51:34.923-05:002015-01-09T08:51:34.923-05:00The Anthology looks like a fascinating pick-up-and...The Anthology looks like a fascinating pick-up-and-read-anywhere kind of book. I'm still pondering the Assassin's Cloak part of the title. I like reading in the morning -- I just finished Rene Denfeld's novel The Enchanted which was dark but good. Funnily enough, I'm reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, too! Some interesting thoughts and information in it, though I won't be following the entirety of her instructions. I'm also reading Playing Big, by Tara Mohr and The Wealthy Spirit, by Chellie Campbell. I have The Shape of the Year (sound familiar?) and Gift from the Sea waiting in the wings. I thoroughly enjoy my daily coffee/reading time--sounds like you do, too.Kathy A. I see the thirst for a simpler, less cluttered life, something I'd like, too. I'm very good at getting rid of new things - magazines, books, clothing, etc. My problem is with all the letters and journals and gifts with sentimental value. joan.kylerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17015342608992682333noreply@blogger.com
