Reading Out the Weekend

It was a dark and stormy day...so I read and read and read. What luxury.

I finished Honeybee: Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper by  C. Marina Marchese. This was a book I picked up on impulse from a display at the library and I really enjoyed it.

Then, because I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to Ruth Galloway, forensic archaeologist, I jumped in and finished the last chapters of The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths.

I will write more about both books in the future.

I am not sure if furiously flipping pages in a book qualifies as an aerobic exercise but the intellectual exercise of today left me breathless.

What did you read this weekend?

  1. Nice! I had a delightfully 'read-y' weekend too- reading 'The Marriage Plot'. Yesterday my spouse and I went to a mall that has coffee shops and big cushy couches and we ate and sat and read. Today we went to our favorite bar for lunch and ate and sat and read. Then we walked around an outdoor public market, stopped at another favorite bar and ate and sat and read. It was my favorite kind of day!!!

    1. Wow, Gina, you did do some reading! I have tried reading at coffee shops but sometimes find the noise and the other people too distracting. Plus, they frown if I show up wearing my robe - my preferred reading outfit!

I have not read 'The Marriage Plot'. What did you think of it?

  2. I very much enjoyED the Ruth Galloway books until I got to "A Dying Fall" which I read most of and then gave up before the end. I'm not sure why, but I just couldn't finish it. I think that they are just too much alike and I am tired of them. Hence the "ED" in enjoyED.

    1. Hi Laura. I recently gave up on quite a few mystery series that I have enjoyed. (See my post The Abandoned Book Pile.) Maybe three or four into a series is enough!

I felt there were some holes in 'The Crossing Places' but will give Ruth Galloway another try in the second book.
