Currently I am On the Road to Little Dribbling with Bill Bryson. Well, actually I am reading his latest book about his own trip to Little Dribbling via a whole multitude of English towns, villages, gardens, beaches, pubs, tea shops, and walking paths. I hope to be finished with this splendid journey in time to write about it next week.

Belle, I've had such a grand time virtually visiting these four bookstores and enjoying each one. I did not know that Powel's Books had beginnings in Chicago. What fun!
ReplyDeleteI've just started, via audiobook, 1927 by Bryson and enjoying it. I gave my husband the first track, suggesting he might enjoy it, and now we have a bit of bookish relay going on, with me handing off each track as I finish it. Bryson never disappoints me. I'll be interested in hearing about Little Dribbling.

DeleteI have a hardback copy of '1927' that I bought ages ago and have yet to read. Sometimes when I know I am going to enjoy a book, I have a tendency to put off reading it in order to savor the anticipation. At my age, I need to stop that! Haha.
I love the bookstore features. I was not familiar with Lutyens and Rubinstein but like the owners' idea of stocking books they love. I seem to remember reading a book that took place in Paris with sort of the same idea. I'll have to look that up and get back with you.
Ha, Belle, I am reading that very same book right now! I'm about halfway through. I went on my own road trip last week with a visiting friend, and we were so busy that I didn't get much reading time in. Oh, well, there's a time for reading and a time for playing with friends. Will give the interviews a listen when I have time--have laundry and lots of catching up to do!
